Documents Requirements for Minors Travelling to Schengen Area

A Schengen visa application by minors generally requires the consent of both parents and legal guardians. If the minor will be traveling alone or with only of the parents, the other parent need to sign an authorization form.

List of required documents are:

  1. A valid passport with the following requirements:
  • Issued within the last ten years.
  • Must have 2 full blank pages for visa stamp.
  • It should be valid for at least 3 months after you come back to the UK from Portugal.
  • Previous passports with visa stamps on them (if any).
  1. A valid UK residency permit.
  2. Two recent photographs, taken within the 3 months according to the following Schengen visa photo requirements:

  • 35x45mm size
  • It must be a color photograph with a light background.

  2. Portugal visa application form, filled completely and signed.
  3. Proof of accommodations which clearly displays the information about your stay in Portugal throughout your trip. One of the following possibilities applies here:
  • Hotel or hostel booking.

  • Invitation letter from your host in Portugal where you will be staying during your holidays.
  1. Invitation letter if invited by a relative or friend and going to stay at their place.

  • Bank statement which displays that you have sufficient funds in your account for your trip. The statement cannot be more than three months old.

  • A combination of both of the above mentioned documents.

Additional Documents Requirement

  • Birth Certificate
  • Family court order in case only of the parents has the custody of the child.

  • If the child is going to travel alone, a notarized parental authorization signed by the child’s parents or legal guardians.
  • In case of step-children, a letter from father or mother which permits the child to travel with the other parent.
